Frequently Asked Questions
We took the Wonderdog Manners class at Summit and I cannot say enough good things about it. My dog Harper had so much fun going to class. Eryn uses only positive reinforcement methods and clicker training. Harper had some prior training, but Eryn really helped us progress her training significantly and we are continuing to polish her good manners! The homework given is easy to follow and great to refer back to after the class is over. It is hands down the best training class we’ve ever gone to! I hope she will add a second level to the class someday! It is so helpful to get her feedback during the training exercises.

Wonderdog Training Group Class FAQs
-
To prepare for your class please make sure you have all the necessary supplies:
Required
A 6' leash (leather or biothane are my preferences. No flexi-leads, please).
A buckle collar (I do not allow the use of prong, choke, or shock collars) with ID tag.
At least three (3) kinds of high-value treats (~100 pieces of each type of treat). Your treats should be roughly the size of a pea and tasty. I suggest trying human food like boiled chicken, hot dogs, or string cheese!
A bath mat or light-weight crate pad for your dog sit on while doing their exercises.
Suggested
A harness (I like the Freedom Harness by Two Hounds Designs).
A treat pouch or apron to give you quick access to your treats.
A water bowl and water for your puppy.
A frozen stuffed KONG or filled lickmat to give to your dog while the trainer is speaking.

Congrats on your new puppy! We recommend that you give your new puppy at least seven days to get comfortable with you, your home, and your routine together before attending a class.
After your puppy has time to settle in, you can sign up and get into class as soon as there is an opening. Since our classes are open enrollment, you shouldn’t have to wait too long!
-
Open enrollment means that this class runs weekly and you can join at any time — no need to wait for a new session to begin to start socializing your puppy!
-
Proper socialization is the most important part of raising a well-adjusted puppy, so your puppy will be introduced to a new activity each week that will help provide well rounded socialization in a positive way.
In addition to the socialization activities, we will begin puppy-level foundations for good manners and discuss different topics that will help set you up for success with your new puppy.
Topics include:
Puppy biting and chewing
Body handling and grooming prep
Potty Training
Enrichment
Management
Socialization
-
Absolutely! We prioritize your puppy's health and implement strict cleaning protocols to minimize the risk of disease. In fact, the potential risks of attending a puppy class are far outweighed by the increased likelihood of behavior problems later in life if your puppy isn’t properly socialized. We adhere to the guidelines established by the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior, which states that "it should be the standard of care for puppies to receive socialization before they are fully vaccinated."
-
We encourage the entire family to participate in their dog’s training and children are welcome in class as long as they are not disruptive. For the safety of your dog and others, children may not handle their dog during class. Exceptions may be made at the instructors discretion. Please let us know how many people to expect when you sign your dog up!
-
Group classes are not a suitable learning environment for dogs who struggle with reactive behaviors such as barking and lunging at other dogs and people. Please inquire about private lessons for help with your dog’s behavior.
-
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer makeup classes. If you will be missing a week of class, we will do our best to catch you up on the material you missed. If your dog is sick, you can still attend class without them so you do not miss out on instruction.
-
We are committed to your dog’s success and expect our clients to enter into classes with the same level of commitment.
To achieve your best possible results, we require a commitment to seeing your full 6-week class through, be it a fixed-schedule class (Wonderdog Manners) or an open-enrollment class (Wonderpuppy Pre-K).
We do not issue refunds for any reason, including missed classes or unforeseen scheduling issues, a change of heart about training, or disagreement about positive training methods.
We want to see your dog succeed!
Your dog deserves a training plan as unique as they are.
